The Best Gifts for Knitters
I recently picked up knitting and I’m obsessed.
Here are some things on my knitting wish list as someone who loves to knit!
Most of these are nice to have luxuries that I can’t bring myself to actually spend but wouldn’t turn down if they showed up under the tree:)
Chiaogoo Interchangeable Needle Set

Most knitters start out with a single pair of needles or an inexpensive interchangeable needle set.
My first was this inexpensive set, but I would love a nicer upgrade.
I’ve earmarked these Chiaogoo knitting needles, which have rave reviews from KnitTok.
The Red Lace 5 inch set contains a full set of interchangeable needles (in sizes US 2-15) so you can knit projects as small as a beanie to as big as a scarf!
The needles are slick and smooth, so yarn glides easily over for speedy, ergonomic knitting. And the memory free cables don’t twist or crunch.
If they already have metal interchangeable needles, I suggest Lykke’s Driftwood Interchangeable Set.
Their bamboo needles are just as popular, and their wood finish make such a beautiful sound as you knit with them.
Bamboo gives a bit of extra grip that’s perfect for knitting with more slippery smooth yarns, and these look so classic and aesthetic!
Cute Stitch Markers
Every knitter needs stitch markers to mark their place as they knit.
But most people just use plain, basic safety pins.
Give them an upgrade with cute stitch markers!
They come in all different styles, colors and designs.
I think these honey bee stitch markers are so cute, or there’s these colorful enameled sheep.
I also love these red fortune cats or these sleepy pandas!
These shell stitch markers have numbers for easily counting increase/decrease rows while these lightweight balls are beautifully minimalist and won’t snag on any project.
And these are like a fiber-on-fiber pun, with amigurumi crochet chickens.
Ah so many adorable options.
These are also a really affordable knitting gift (under $25)!
Gift Card to their Favorite Yarn Store
Half the fun of knitting is shopping for yarn!
Don’t make the mistake of buying yarn for the knitter in your life.
Instead, get them a gift card to their favorite yarn store so they can hem and haw and spend hours picking out their favorite yarn for their next project.
If you’re looking for an online yarn store, I recommend Knit Picks.
They have a huge variety of wool and natural fiber yarns at a wide range of prices.
In particular, I love Wool of the Andes (a great all-around Peruvian wool), Palette (a fingering-weight of the same Peruvian wool) and Aloft (a super soft mohair).
Rather than picking a specific yarn that the knitter may not like, a gift card allows them to indulge!
Knit Picks also sells crochet supplies, knitting tools and cute knitting patterns and project bags so they’re sure to use the gift card.
Re:design Knitting Project Bag
I saw these gorgeous knitting project bags and immediately put them on my knitting wishlist.
They’re made from supple, smooth leather, come in several colors and unzip to lay completely open.
Inside, you can organize your needles, notions, yarn, knitting binder and current project in one handy bag!
They come in all different sizes too, from small to extra large.
Size no 9 is perfect for holding small accessory projects (socks/ beanies, scarves) while size no 10 is best for large chunky sweaters.
Yarn Ball Winder and Swift
Yarn sold in hanks needs to be wound.
Chances are, the knitter you know painstakingly winds it themselves to save money.
But it’s soo much easier to have a swift and winder!
Gift them a yarn winder and swift for a luxurious upgrade.
I earmarked this beautiful winder for my own Christmas wish list. It has a little weight so you don’t need to clamp it to a table.
And it’s electric, so it winds a ball all on it’s own!
The antique design looks so chic and I love that the sound is a very quiet hum. This yarn swift would pair nicely with it.
Or, for more something more affordable, there’s this wooden winder and swift set. It’s a more Scandi-style, rustic look.
Custom Needle Organizer

For the knitter who has too many needles!
This bespoke needle organizer is super functional and beautiful.
Crafted from gorgeous leather and available in multiple sizes, it allows you to custom design binder “pages”.
That way, you can keep all your interchangeable needles, double pointed needles, cables and notions neatly organized in one binder.
Fancy Hand Cream
Knitting can be rough on the hands.
So why not pamper the knitter in your life with some fancy hand cream they probably wouldn’t splurge on for themselves?
I love Aesop’s indulgent scented hand creams and L’Occitane’s shea butter hand creams.
Knitting Books
So many knitting tutorials can be found online these days.
But nothing beats the beauty of a physical knitting book in your hands.
I have a comprehensive list of beginner knitting books in this post.
But my top 3 suggestions would be
- Vogue Knitting Handbook: a gorgeous large hardcover knitting reference book that is beautiful enough to display on the coffee table
- Patty Lyons Knitting Bag of Tricks: useful whether they’re a beginner or advanced knitter! Patty’s pocket sized reference book is filled with practical tips to figure every type of knitting problem
- Japanese Knitting Stitch Bible: a book for the advanced knitter, with 200+ intricate and unique Japanese knit stitches
Beautiful Scissors
I got a pair of these beautiful crane scissors when I was in Japan that I now use for my knitting.
It’s dainty, beautiful and extra sharp – perfect for knitting!
Row Counter
A row counter is a must for knitting.
Rather than using pen and paper, your favorite knitter can use these little tools every time they finish a row – much easier!
I have a basic counter but these cute options caught my eye!
Sewing Labels for Handmade Items
These adorable sewing labels say ‘handknit with love’ and would be so cute to add to every finished knit project!
There’s also these cotton labels if you want to personalize the message and these dressier leather labels.
Knitting Chart Keeper
This magnetic chart keeper comes in handy for colorwork, cable sweaters or any complicated knitting pattern that incorporates charts.
With its magnetic ruler, it allows you to easily keep track of your progress as you knit – even if you pause for breaks.
Colorwork Project Bag
Another cute gift idea for the advanced knitter who knits colorful sweaters!
This Colorworks snap bag allows you easily organize 8 different yarns so you can knit stranded colorwork without everything becoming a tangled mess.
Snaps at the top act as dividers to keep each strand separate, and I love that the see-through pouch allows you to see how much yarn you have left.
It’s an extra large size, roomy enough to hold sweaters and large projects.
Blocking Mats

I’ve been blocking my sweaters without a blocking mat but would love to get a proper set.
These foam cushions speed up the drying process and allow you to precisely stretch and pin your finished object in place.
That way, you can be sure all the pieces are the right size, which comes in clutch for sweaters and clothing!
Wool Wash
A fancy upgrade to basic soap, these scented wool washes are oh so fancy.
Knitting Ornament
Such a cute ornament!
You can choose the yarn color you’d like for the figurine inside.
Fabric Shaver & De-pillar
There’s nothing a knitter hates more than yarn that pills.
But all knitwear starts to form little pill balls over time, especially along the elbows and under arms where the fabric rubs together.
Get the knitter in your life this cute, affordable and super useful fabric shaver.
It easily and neatly removes fuzz, pills and lint from knitwear to transform it back to new!
For softer wool fibers like cashmere sweaters, a cashmere comb is a must.
Knit Slippers
Extra cozy knit slippers, in a festive fair isle pattern!
Knitting Tote Bag
This tote bag is functional and hilarious. It’s perfect for the knitter in your life!
Needle Stoppers
Another adorable knitting accessory that’d make for a cute stocking stuffer.
Needle stoppers hold your knitting in place, so you can take a break from your work or try on your sweater without the yarn sliding off!
They come in so many fun options, like:
Needle Planter
Know someone who likes to knit and garden?
Gift them this adorable planter, which combines both their hobbies in one happy face.
Sock Blockers
Do you know a knitter that loves making smaller accessories?
Gift them this cute sock and mitten blocking set, so they can perfectly create handmade gloves, mittens and socks.
They come on a hanging laundry rack for easy drying anywhere.
Knitting Accessories Holder
A soft padded sheep to keep all necessities close at hand.
Perfect for holding craft notions, scissors and other knitting items.
Wool Bear Knitting Kit
This kit would be perfect for parents with kids who want to learn how to knit!
It’s a complete kit that comes with everything you need to make a bear amigurumi.
And I mean everything – from good quality wool yarn to even the needles, hooks and tweezers.
Yarn Bowl
A yarn spinner or yarn bowl comes in handy for keeping your balls of yarn neatly organized as you knit.
They come in so many styles and options, like
Knitting Journal
To keep your project notes all neatly organized!
Knitting Thimble
If you know someone who loves knitting colorful sweaters, gift them a helpful knitting thimble.
This little ring helps a knitter tension different colored yarns together, for easier colorwork.
There are simple knitting thimble designs as well as unique options like this dragon!
Neck Light

If you’re looking for a stocking stuffer for the knitter in your life, get them this neck light.
It looks gimmicky but comes in so handy when knitting at night under dim lighting.
The neck light perfectly lights up the work right in front of the knitter so they can see stitches clearly and won’t strain their eyes.
