I got one to try out and have been using it for a couple months now.

The Counterstands are made from an opaque, colored borosilicate glass. The look like sleek scientific beakers.
I love the shape and design.
Compared to other countertop indoor gardens, it looks less like a tech gadget and more like a trio of vases with living plants.
This set operates like a kratky hydroponic setup, where water is drawn up to the plants by cotton wicks. Lettuce Grow includes an extra set of wicks so that you have more than enough to get started.
There are 2 bottles of plant food (2 fl oz), which is enough for 20 grows.

The Counterstands are designed to sit on any flat surface.
You don’t need to worry about placing these by a sunny window because they come with a Glow Lamp. It’s a sleek LED light made from aluminum that sits neatly in between the glass vases.
The light provides 4000K of white light for optimal plant growth, and can be toggled between 3 settings:
- sleep mode
- 12 hours
- 16 hours
The automatic setting is 16 hours on, 8 hours off.
It only uses 7W of power, so it’s very energy efficient and should barely add a dent to your electricity bill.
The cord is a USB-C plug. I use this multi-plug outlet so I didn’t need a separate USB-C power block.
The only thing I needed to add was water! (I use tap – NYC water is great)

Unboxing and Setup
Setting up the Counterstand Set was a breeze, since it’s pretty much already assembled.
You can use it with new seedlings or you can transplant seedlings from the Farmstand. Here are setup instructions for both:
How to Set Up the Counterstand with Seedling
- Fill the jar up with water just below the fill line
- Add 4 half-full droppers of plant food
- Add a waterwick to the new seedling, then insert into the cup
- Place the cup into the vase
- Place it under the Glow Lamp
How to Set Up the Counterstand with Farmstand Transplant
- Fill the jar up with water just below the fill line
- Add 2 half-full droppers of plant food
- Transplant plant from Farmstand to the Counterstand
- Place it under the Glow Lamp
Maintenance
Whether you’re using a new seedling or transplanted seedling, the maintenance is the same.
You can harvest leaves as needed, or wait for the plant to reach full size and cut the entire plant.
If the water gets low, refill when it’s about 1″ away from the ‘refill’ line.
I originally placed my Counterstand Set on my dining table, as sort of a living-bouquet centerpiece. Once the plants grew to a healthy size, I moved it to my kitchen countertop for easy access whenever I cook.
Overall, the garden is a very low-maintenance solution, which is one of the reasons I love Lettuce Grow products so much!
If you’re new to hydroponic gardening, this trio is super easy to setup and maintain, much easier than the Farmstand.

Having been a hydroponic gardener for years in my small apartment, I’ve tested countless products that claim to make gardening more efficient and accessible.
Over time, I’ve found that Lettuce Grow’s products consistently deliver.

Who Is the Counterstand Set Good For?
